Two weekends ago I was able to talk my two nieces into spending the night at my house. It was the first time that they would honor me with their presence for this type of event. We went to the park, ate delicious salads at Tumbleweed, went to the video store, ate ice cream and tried to watch said videos but ended up wrestling with Jay instead. Then I learned why you don't sleep in the same bed as a 6 and 3 year old. Because you are inevitable going to wake up with a foot to the face and while this foot may be small, it still will not feel good.
Here are some photos of us at the park. I somehow managed to look like I had 3 chins in these photos. I'm very talented that way.
My sister Marianne and her husband Randy both got laid off and obviously that makes paying the bills a little difficult. This week they and the three little ones that I adore and their 3 boxers moved into my dad's. My dad has lived alone since I moved out six years ago and since then he has gotten really set in his ways and wants everything as exactly how he likes it. I was wondering how it was going to go.
Two nights ago I got a phone call:
Me: Hello?
Dad: mKc? I was just calling to tell you that I am surrounded by little people.
And then in the background I heard an eruption of giggles and happy shrieks. Then Dad giggled. He GIGGLED.
Me: How do you like it so far?
Dad: This is the first time in the last six years that I've come home from work and the house hasn't been quiet as a tomb.
I could actually HEAR him smiling. Wouldn't you be? If you lived with these guys?
This is a picture of me and my niece Hannah taken on my wedding day in 2004.At that time she was the only niece (or nephew) that I had then. It's one of my favorite shots taken that day. I very much remember how adorable she was that day and how she followed me around dressed like a little mini-me and even though I was being pulled in a million different directions, I would stop everything for her and carry her with me. Sometimes I can't believe that she was that small.
This is us from a few months ago...
Apparently 20 degree weather isn't cold enough because the temperature here is dropping fast, by Thursday it'a going to be 10 degrees out but -10 with the wind chill. How can a girl be expected to go to work under those conditions?
So I am trying to think warm and happy thoughts...like these:
In case you were wondering, that's my niece Zoey. She looks very prepared for winter.
Last Monday was a very rough day for me. I had a terrible panic attack and I was pretty much a crying mess. My husband had me take a medicine that made me feel very sleepy. I also sent a text message to my sister Angie and asked her to come over. (She and Jay are my "safe" people.) I was pretty sedated by the time she came bursting through the door, pumpkin seat in hand, declaring she knew exactly what I needed. I have to say there was definitely something to her suggestion.
My pets, of course, were not to be out done. That's alot of snuggling on one couch.
